Pacific Future Energy

Pacific Future Energy proposes to build and operate a refinery at Dubose Flats (half way between Kitimat and Terrace) using near-solid neatbit bitumen supplied by rail from Western Canada. Early third-party studies studies suggest a marine terminal could be situated along the Portland Inlet, in the event such a development were to secure the support of a host First Nation

About This Project

A formal proposal to build and operate a bitumen-to-fuels refinery at the Dubose Flats Crown land industrial site was submitted to First Nations governments and federal and provincial regulators in January 2016. The project would receive near-solid neatbit bitumen by rail from Western Canada and refine it into diesel, gasoline, and other products for export to world markets. Pacific Future Energy plans to power the refinery with clean-energy sources that include biomass wood-waste from the regional forest industry.

It will be the responsibility of offtakers to obtain the necessary permits and approvals to construct the necessary infrastructure (pipelines and marine facilities) to enable export.
